15 Songs for Sun, Sand, and Swimming

The sun peeks out through clouds and warms your skin. It’s 90 degrees but it feels much hotter. Maybe it’s a swelling humidity that engulfs your skin like a soup or a dry, unmoving air that sticks to your skin, suffocating. Either way. It’s time to hit the beach.

Time to pile your half-clothed friends into your car with backpacks and coolers jammed into the back, and drive down the highway, hands hanging out the window, until you hear seagulls squealing and fussing over scraps of food and smell the salt through the air. Feel the temperature drop a little. Time to hide the beers clinking together in your cooler and walk through the lull of the boardwalk, hear people laughing, talking. The wood creaks under your feet, and greasy food is warm in the distance. Keep walking and feel the sand hot, sinking under your weight. The ocean crashes and recedes, cyclical. Your friend smears sunscreen over your back. When you lay down, you feel your weight pressed to the earth, occasionally moving sand around with your body. The water crashes in front of you, and you softly hear people around you talking to each other. It is a crowded beach, after all. But for now it feels like it is only you.

That's why we put together a list of our 15 favorite songs for the beach. These songs are upbeat and fun, light and pleasant, and sure to get you into the vibe of Summer fun. So relax! Forget about your job! Summer is here.
